On the 17th of December 2024, John passed away peacefully in the loving care of the Staff at Moycullen Nursing Home. Predeceased by his parents Murty and Bridget Heffernan and his sister Mary Bligh (Boston). Beloved husband of Mary. Will be sadly missed by his wife, son Murtagh (Chicago), daughters Anna, Marian, Sharon, Irene and Sheila, brother Thomas, sisters Nora Darcy (Headford) and Julia Burke, sons-in-law Tommy Keane, Jimmy Sweeney, Paul Carter (U.K.) , Phil Gale (U.K.) and Sheila's partner Elin Persson, grandchildren Sarah, Eoin, Aoife, Emmet, James, Maya, Zoe, Róisín, Aiden, Caitlin, Emma and Nell, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing in his residence in Thonabrucky (H91 DA5D), on Friday the 20th of December, from 5pm until 8pm. John's Requiem Mass will take place on Saturday, the 21st of December, in St. James' Church, Bushypark at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to the adjoining cemetery.
